A robust red with great depth and complexity at an excellent price point. Syrah add so much character to this blend with fleshy blackberries and cherries. It's full-bodied, balanced and smooth. Perfect for grilled meats and hard cheeses. Highly recommended.

Malbec food pairings: herb-roasted lamb, pork tenderloin, cheddar cheese, spaghetti and meat balls.

Reviews and Ratings

Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is a great Malbec at a very reasonable price. It is fruity and smooth with fairly refined tannins. Medium to full bodied with medium finish. Great choice for sturdy stews or short ribs.
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A lovely Malbec! Medium bright ruby with rim. Soft, integrated tannins and crisp acidity. Full bodied yet velvety mouthfeel. Layered flavours of blackberry, pepper, smoke, leather, with soft ripe sour cherry finish.
Colin McKone - Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Dark purple in colour with cooked strawberries, cherries, plum, smoke and black pepper. It is full bodied, with medium tannins and medium acidity with cooked fruit and black cherry flavours on the finish. Will pair great with grilled red meats and strong cheeses.
Carola Price rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Opaque and deep red to core.Nose of plum and black cherry, some pepper. A bit too astringent in the mouth but should develop fruit over time. Some spice, chocolate and blackberry flavours. Pair with steak and Chimmichurri. The bold garlic flavours will carry through with the alcohol.

Jacky Blisson rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

Peppery, dark fruited Malbec, with a dense, full bodied structure. Simple and short, with a slightly sweet, woody finish.
This Argentinean Malbec is from La Consulta of the cooler Uco Valley wine region in Mendoza. Alamos Selección (2013) is part of The Wines of Catena. This robust red has layers of blackberries and cherries, Tannins are soft and the wine is very drinkable now. Great price point. - Community Wine Reviews
