Natalie's Score: 93/100

Terrific concentration, depth and breadth of flavour in the glass for this robust red wine. Cedary aromas with black forest cherries on the nose. Full-bodied and generous though it needs 1-2 hours decanting for maximum pleasure. Dried herbs and some smoke on the finish. Pair it with film noir or a murder mystery. This full-bodied red wine is a blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre and 10% Cinsault grapes.

Food pairings: pepper steak, grilled pork chops.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

An opaque dark ruby red with aromas of Thomson raisins, stewed dark fruit, tea and a touch of garrique/lavender. A rich palate with dark stewed fruit, prunes, dark raisins, tea, sea salt, earth, and herbal garrique. A full-bodied with a long spicy stewed fruit finish. Enjoy with duck, roast lamb, venison or game.
Alain Jaume and family have been making wine since 1826 from various terroirs in the Rhone Valley. The wines are only lightly filtered to preserve most natural deposits that add richness and concentration to the wine, but are harmless (decant). The 2012 vintage of the Vacqueyras Grande Garrigue is a matured in tanks. - Community Wine Reviews
