Reviews and Ratings

Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A beautiful deep, chewy Douro red, with big tannins, great acidity, prominent black and red berry, dark plum and savoury. Well balanced. Pairs well with beef kebabs. Tasted 2013 vintage in August 2017. Good value. 90 points. BespokeTastings
Varieties: Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, and small quantities of other Douro varieties.
Tasting notes: Intense and deep purple color. The aroma has notes of ripe fruit, plum, raspberry, cassis, grapefruit, menthol, mint, vanilla, violet, with hints of minerals and coffee. The palate is smooth, with fresh and balanced acidity, with round tannins, with a long and persistent finish.
Winemaking: Grapes were hand-picked, being destemmed and gently crushed at the winery, into granite ‘lagares’. Then they were crushed by feet, promoting skin maceration and extraction of delicate flavors. At the end of alcoholic fermentation, the wine was transfered into french oak barrels, aging in barrels for 24 months, before bottling.
Bottling: July 2016; 2 000 bottles.
