Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 96/100 with the following review:

I thought the Taylor Fladgate 30 year old Tawny was pretty close to perfection, if not perfect, until I tasted the 40 year old. Not to detract from the 30 year old in any way, but the 40 year old is rich and smooth and silky heaven in a glass. The nose and palate are full of hazelnut, vanilla and almond notes. There are no harsh notes, no heat on the nose or palate. The finish is long and warm. This and some salty smoked almonds were a match made in heaven! Tasted February 2018.
Dan Trcka Wine Blogger rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

The Taylor Fladgate 40 Year Old Tawny Port has a captivating bouquet of dried prune, figs, caramel, clove, cinnamon and subdued walnuts. It is a full bodied, aged port; with good acidity and a long finish. Drink as a desert or with aged, dry or smoked cheeses; drink now – 2018+. My impression: BEAUTIFUL to DIVINE, 95+ pts – recommended for its quality. Tasted in September 2013 at iYellow's Taylor Fladgate Port Party http://grapeselections.com/port-and-werewolves/

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
