Trapiche Fincas Las Palmas Malbec 2011, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina: A lively Malbec with intriguing aromas of black raspberry, bacon and vanilla smoke. Yalumba Barossa Patchwork Shiraz 2011, Barossa Valley, Australia: A generous, full-bodied, supple red with attractive aromas of black plum, blackberries and black raspberries. Incredible concentration and depth. Great for dinner parties. Shiraz from the Barossa Valley shines, and here is a prime example. Seductive notes of cedar smoke on the finish. With 160 years of Barossa heritage, Yalumba shows exactly what Barossa terroir is capable of. The winery creates this wine from a "patchwork quilt" of soils, aspects, microclimates and cultures, thus the name. Drink: 2013-2020. 98392 13.50% XD 750 mL  $23.95 Score: 91/100.
