Cathedral Cellar Kwv Pinotage 2013, Western Cape, South Africa: If you don't know Pinotage as a grape very well, start with this wine. It's South Africa's flagship grape the way California has Zinfandel. Savoury notes of bacon, fleshy black cherry and vanilla smoke. It’s got a velvet texture with a dry medium-full-bodied weight and flavours of cocoa, coffee, and blackberry jam with a dark spiced finish. Smoky oak weaves it way through the wine. Lovely! Pair with: grilled lamb steaks. OTHER: Named after the Cathedral Cellar itself (imagine stained glass windows, a barrel-vaulted roof and granite-and-wood inlaid floors), this wine is aged in a cellar that was built over 80 years ago. A vibrant deep ruby wine, it's pretty on the nose and sure to be a crowd pleaser. It's brimming with black fruit, chocolate, spice and oaky shading.
