Don David Reserve Malbec 2012, CalchaquĆ­ Valley, Salta, Argentina: Especially gorgeous for the price: this is my new party wine. Wow. Rich blackberry and black plum with mouth-watering juiciness and satisfying full-bodied weight. Winemaker Michel Torino is much-respected for his robust, flavourful Malbec wines made in the Cafayate region of northern Argentina. Some of his vineyards are planted at the highest elevations above sea level for viticulture worldwide, which gives them an extra dimension of balance and complexity.
