Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Lovely, rich and full best describes this 50% Cabernet Franc, 38% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon red wine blend from Hester Creek Estate Winery’s Select Vineyards (2022). Deep, bright ruby in the glass, from the aromas alone, you know this Cab Merlot is full, rich and plushy. Rich with dark berry, plum, dark cherry, earthy florals, cold black tea, wild herbs, cedar brush and pepper spice flavours, it is dry, medium-plus-bodied and bright with medium-acidity, velvety, medium and very approachable tannins and a lingering dark chocolate finish. Everything is in balance (and delicious) on this velvety wine. Tasted November 2023.

So, from a few questions I have been receiving about chocolate and red wine pairings, it seems like the theme for the holidays is going to be just that -- it is after all the best of both worlds :) and this Cab Merlot would definitely make the cut with its rich dark berry, plum and cherry flavours, as it would with burgers, ribs and steaks from the grill.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
