Carpineto Farnito 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is a dry, vibrant, full-bodied Cab with juicy dark cherry, black currant, underbrush, pepper and smoky toasty oak spice flavours with brilliant acidity and finishing long on the palate. Tannins are structured. Good now, better in 2022. Pour with a rosemary and garlic roast of pork.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: lamb Bolognese, grilled New York strip loin with chimichurri sauce, braised pork shanks with white beans, Asian chicken salad, Margherita pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Craig Haynes - WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This put a spell on me. It has stunning, complex aromatics of ripe berries and plums, sandalwood, spice box, and earth. Its subtle flavours have layers of elegant, delicious expressions of ripe red fruit and sweet spices.

This experience feels marvellous. Medium bodied, bone dry, lush, right touch racy acidity, with velvety tannins and a no rush to leave finish. Crafted with Sangiovese 50%, Cabernet Sauvignon 30 %, Merlot 20 %, this is classified as a Toscana IGT.

For me, the beautiful aromatics are the highlight of this experience. I’d like to savour them for hours.

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Beautiful! This is a lovely Tuscan wine, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, with aromas of blackberry, plum, tobacco, mocha, and a hint of dried herbs and woody spice. Full bodied, with soft tannins (likely mellowed as I tried this after it had been open for a day), bright, balancing acidity, with ripe black fruit on the palate mingled with mocha, warm spice and hints of leather. Lovely! Enjoy with rich game meats or any hearty fall roast complete with roasted fall vegetables.
