Molly Amoli Shinhat reviewed this wine as follows:

With a richly complex nose, this deep ruby wine gives charred bacon, earth, violets, and tar, with dark fruit (cassis, cherry, plums), finished with charred wood and smoke. On the palate, it's a smorgasbord of dark fruit: cassis, blackberry, black cherry, and plum, finished with robust acidity, high tannins, smoke and earth. At 14.4% a.b.v, it's up there, but the alcohol is very well integrated - so no worries there. It's an extra dry wine at 4 g/l.

One-hundred percent Zinfandel, the grapes were partly sourced from old vines in Lodi and Amador. The producer is known for blending wines from across locations in California, Oregon, and Washington. This wine was also cellared and bottled on the Joel Gott estates.

Zinfandel could be described as the grape that made Mr. Gott. In the mid 1990s, he bought as much of it as he could from a grower friend. With Sarah's help - a winemaker, who happened to be his girlfriend (and now his wife) - together, they made a wine widely praised by the crème de la crème of the US wine press. This set them on the path to establish Joel Gott Wines.

This Zinfandel pairs gloriously with almost anything from the BBQ or grill.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
