Famiglia Zingarelli's Rocca Delle Macìe 2016 is a silky Riserva Chianti Classico with great acidity for food. Produced by Famiglia Zingarelli this is a dark, robust mouth-watering mostly Italian Sangiovese red with a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and aged 24 months in French Allier barrels. Look for earthy, ripe blackberry, blueberry, savoury herb and smoked meat flavours on this full-bodied red wine from the Tuscany wine region. Pair with a savoury mushroom and cheesy pizza.

Chianti Classico food pairings: mince sirloin, sausage and cheese pizza, Tuscan rabbit, sausage cassoulet.

Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Accented with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, this Chianti aged 24 months in French oak. A beautiful wine with intense cherry, red fruit, smoke, and earthy aromas. Big robust tannins match a full body and firm acidity. Allow this to age a few more years and serve with hearty Italian dishes, especially those with red meat and savoury sauces.
Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A Tuscan blend of Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, full-bodied after aging in French oak for 24 months. Cherry and oak influence aromas, including leather, lead to a plum and dark berry palate. A medium-long, extra dry finish. Decant or age further. Serve with red meat, cheese-based pastas and savoury dishes. Tasted February 2020.
From the Tuscany wine region, Famiglia Zingarelli's Rocca Delle Macìe 2016 is a silky Riserva Chianti Classico mouth-watering and produced mostly with Sangiovese, a smattering of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and aged 24 months in French Allier barrels. Ripe with spiced plum, dark cherry and earthy, savoury flavours on the palate. Good now better in a year or two. - Community Wine Reviews
