Somm4All WSET 3 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Nestled in the Gavilan Mountain Range we find the oldest producing vineyard in Monterey country belonging to Chalone. Situated at the base of an extinct volcano, this secluded winery has a rich wine-making history, with one its own Chardonnay’s placing 3rd overall in the famed 1976 Judgement of Paris. The limestone soil mirrors that of Burgundy, France and provides an ideal opportunity to integrate Burgundian grape growing philosophies. 100% Chardonnay, this 2015 Chalone is a dry, almost medium bodied white with well balanced and well integrated hefty 14.4% ABV. Aromas of lemon, peach, buttery popcorn, smoke, toast and a little white pepper arise in harmony, with the palate mimicking the nose albeit with attributes of apricot and soft vanilla. The 10 months in French oak (of which 15% was new) smooths out the wine, contributing to the silky smoky and buttery finish. An ideal match for a decadent and creamy risotto.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
