Matt Steeves rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

The provenance of Robert Mondavi's Fume Blanc Reserve is some of the finest Grand Cru quality vineyards in North America, being the world-renowned To Kalon Vineyard in Napa Valley's Oakville AVA. A blend of 98% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Semillon sourced entirely from To Kalon Vineyard, with some of the Sauvignon Blanc vines dating back to 1945, with the balance planted in 1959, 1994, and 1999, making them some of the oldest and renowned in North America. The vines are nestled beside Opus One and Beckstoffer vines, and neighbouring Harlan Estate, needless to say, many of the finest wines in California come from this storied micro region which is known to deliver perfect (or near perfect) scoring wines vintage after vintage. 2013 happened to be a fantastic vintage with optimally ripened fruit allowing for an early harvest which was completed in August. The nose shows a beautiful bouquet of exotic fruit, key lime, lemon grass, pink grapefruit, tangerine, and pronounced flint. Creamy and refreshing with a mineral-rich mouthwatering finish, the layers of fruit are elegant, structured, perfectly balanced and beautifully textured which is what To Kalon fruit is known for, but winemaker Genevieve Janssens adds further complexity and texture to the wine by a variety of techniques including French oak barrel as well as concrete egg fermentation. To Kalon barrel-aged Sauvignon Blanc is a style unlike no other and a style that's loved by many. Enjoy the 2013 Fume Blanc Reserve with seafood, sushi, and smoked fish. One of my favourites, lemon ginger shrimp. Drink 2018 to 2027. Tasted February 2018. 94 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
