Rebecca Meir-Liebman rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Named for winemaker Paul Bosc’s other passion, Egyptian Arabian horses – equuleus is Latin for little horse – this is one of the better Meritage-style wines made in Canada. With the temperate climate of Southern Ontario, there simply aren’t many red wines that achieve as much ripe dark fruit notes, cassis, bacon and chocolate flavours as Equuleus does. This wine is made only in excellent vintages. These are the vintages the winemaker calls “Equuleus Vintage”, and one such year was 2012. It was hot, dry and extremely sunny, which allowed the fruit to fully ripen and is considered one of Niagara's best vintages. A blend of 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon from 32-year-old vines and aged one year in French Tronçais and Allier oak barrels, the flavours are rich and complex. This wine has great structure and tannins which allow the wine to age for at least 15 - 20 years; this wine will benefit from time in the bottle. If you love full-bodied, rich and meaty wines you'll definitely be pleased with this one! Pair with braised lamb shank or roasted lamb shoulder with rich lamb jus.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
