Gwen Barton rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: Very enjoyable Marlborough Sauv Blanc. Herbaceous, grassy, asparagus aromas- but more subtle than some other examples of this varietal. Gooseberry and citrus flavours. Vibrant acidity with pleasant fruit and mineral finish. Easy to enjoy on its own, but would love to pair with a plate of mussels in creamy garlic sauce.
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: A lovely Sauvignon Blanc - what a nose - bold grassiness, tropical fruit, stone minerality. The palate is well rounded and delicate. Persistent candied lime on the finish. Tasted November 2017.
Pam Hatton rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: A favourite classicand quality NZ Sauvignon Blanc with gooseberry, pea, peach and guava on the nose. Med to high balanced acidity and concentrated flavours. Long finish. As the quality of Marlborough Sauv Blancs have decreased with the increase in their popularity, it is good to see that Whitehaven continues to produce a quality affordable wine. See my 2017 review too.
Jon Steeves - Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: Zesty gooseberry, lemongrass, lime zest, honeydew melon, savoury and refreshing. Pairs well with goats cheese, red pepper and basil pesto thin-crust pizza. Tasted 2015 vintage in Nov 2017. 90 points. Great value. #BespokeTastings
Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: A zesty grassy, guava, passionfruit and lemony-lime New Zealand sauvignon blanc with an amazingly balanced fruit to herbaceous zest ratio. Enjoy this high acid mouthwatering sauvignon blanc with crispy Greek calamari. Tasted Nov 2017 by @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Jacky Blisson rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: Whitehaven Winery is a great choice for consistently well-made, reasonably priced Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. The 2015 Sauvignon Blanc has all the classic Marlborough traits (sweaty/ grassy/ passionfruit/ cat pee aromatics, crisp, lively mouthfeel, dry finish, etc.) but offers greater delicacy and finesse than many of its class. The aromatics are vibrant, without the exaggerated pungency so often found here. The palate is very pure and precise, with a juicy core of tropical fruit that lingers on the clean, persistent finish. Very attractive.
Nicole Lewis rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: A nice counterpoint to the Cali Sauvignon Blanc that I tasted. The herbaceous quality of this New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc jumps from glass and seizes your olfactory sensors. There's gooseberry, freshly mowed hay, and guava. This is a very crisp and palate cleansing wine of moderate body and offering flavours of gooseberry, meyer lemon and guava. It has a medium finish and would pair well with whitefish smothered in a beurre blanc sauce.
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: A nice "gentle" nose of grass, herbs (parsley/cilantro), tropical fruit, nectarine, flint. Savoury and fresh, crisp acidity, citrus finish. A very pleasant Sauvignon Blanc.
Sharon Lécuyer rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review: Faint grassy aromas with sour notes of gooseberry, citrus, and herbs. I drank this one next to the 2017 and the 2015 was much more 'typical' sauv blanc. You could pair this one with seafood or sip on its own on a summer day. Tasted November 19, 2017
Dan Carkner reviewed this wine as follows: Floral orchard fruit emerges with some coaxing on the nose with honeyed grapefruit, cut grass, and green vegetal notes taking the lead. A light body brimming with lemon, lime, and fresh, grassy herb flavours is complemented by vibrant acidity which persists through a long finish. A good representation of the grape and the region.
