This robust red is packed with notions of black plums, blackberries and smoke. Full-bodied but not heavy: deliciously balanced Australian red wine. Great price. Lots of smoky, toasty oak with black charred plums. Try it with meat lovers' pizza tonight. Yes please!

Shiraz food pairings: hamburger, char-grilled beef, blackened chicken, black bean soup, pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Alexandre Craig DWS, FWS rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Although Barossa wines are not my favorite style out there (and yes, I have tasted Grange), this one does have the merit of being very typical of the region. This is Australia's heartland of production, and many top estates are producing wines from here. Nevertheless, it's hot, and it's dry, displayed in the wine's stewed black fruit and dried prune aromas. Chocolate and smoked charcoal complete the mix, but the finish is warm, which is to be expected. Concentrated and powerful.
This full-bodied Australian red wine says on the back label that a donkey could make great wine from Barossa shiraz but in the hands of a magician winemaker like Chris Ringland (3 Rings) you get oenophalindromic complexity. The tri-ringular layering has the complexity of a palindrome. - Community Wine Reviews
