Love this style of Rioja! Old leather, juicy, almost tart cherry, and lots of layered satisfaction with a contemplatively long finish. Mouth-filling, mouth-watering and subtle with some spice on the finish and cigar box. One for the cellar -- if you can wait.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha from the Rioja region. Full-bodied dark cherry, cassis, eucalyptus, celery salt, warm spices, garrigue, parsnip, leather. A lingering warm fruit driven finish. Tannins are ripe and softening.
Drink now through 2017.
Food friendly.
Good Canadian comfort food wine: BBQ, beef stew, Tortiere, old cheddar.
Tasted April 2014
Martha Kelly AIWS - CS rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Full-bodied, this blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha grapes has flavours of black cherry, cassis, wild strawberry, celery, cloves, eucalyptus, and garrigue.
This complexity lingers on the warming, supple finish.
Drink now, or keep until 2017.
Pair with beef stew, lamb, or mushroom/Port/brie flatbread.
Date tasted: April 2014.
The grapes for this wine come from 60-year-old bush vines, and their concentrated but nuanced flavour shows through. - Community Wine Reviews
