A savoury and delicious red with gorgeously ripe black cherry and black raspberry aromas. Layered complexity on the palate with a long finish. A superbly made wine, especially for this price point. Pair with brisket or flank steak.

Tempranillo food pairings: rosemary lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

July 12, 2014: Deep ruby/garnet with an expressive nose of red berry fruit, dried flowers, baking spice, leather and cedar. Medium body with sour cherry, strawberry, raspberry and savoury dried herbs this classic style Rioja has lifted acidity, fine drying tannins and a medium ling finish. Drink now and over the next ten years with grilled beef or lamb. 90+
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Tasted in 2020. For a 2004, there is still quite a lot of fruit on this wine. Aromas of cherry, raspberry and some dried raisin notes, along with hints of dried herbs and sweet tobacco. Full bodied, tannins have softened, but there is still some nice balancing acidity, along with more ripe and died fruit notes. Enjoy with lamb or mushroom dishes over the next 2 years if you still have any.
Showing just enough age to deliver complexity but still fresh for a red Rioja, this wine is built around a seductive cherry core, with lots of spice, subtle vanilla and a crisp-smoky finish. Score: 93 Source: Beppi Crosariol, The Globe and Mail, Sept. 16, 2012
