Mike Weir Riesling, Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario
Moneral-petrol nose with fleshy ripe peach. A touch a sweetness makes this very food friendly. Great mouth-watering acidity. Pair with: Asian dishes, curries. Drink: 2012-2016. 229286 $14.95 Score: 89/100. Best Value White Wine
Bachelder Chardonnay Niagara, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario
Wow! This is spectacular. Thomas Bachelder did amazing things while he was the winemaker at Le Clos Jordanne, one of my favourite Niagara wineries. Now he’s out there again, taking the lead and creating superb wines from different vineyards. This chardonnay is stunning! Lemon luminescence with a core of deep minerality and lighting brightness. Perfectly balanced between a deft hand of oak and generous fruit. Makes me love chardonnay all over again. Pair with: roast chicken. Drink: 2012-2019. 271841 $31.95 Score: 94/100. Top Rated White Wine
Araucano Syrah François Lurton, Lolol Valley, Chile
A superb value and quality for this price point. Full-bodied with fleshy blackberries and some vanilla-smoke on the finish. Pair with: barbecued back ribs. Drink: 2012-2015. 269209 $14.95 Score: 88/100. Best Value Red Wine
Landmark Pinot Noir Grand Detour, Sonoma Coast, California
Incredibly plush and cherry-soaked wine with layers of lovely come-back-me longing. Full-bodied but not heavy. Ultra-satisfying and seductive. Pair with: planked salmon, pate, roast chicken. Drink: 2012-2016. 737890 $41.95 Score: 93/100. Top Rated Red Wine
