When the hustle and bustle of everyday life has us over-committed and rushing from one thing to the next, it’s especially comforting to remember a simpler time, when we could derive pleasure from life’s everyday luxuries.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting we give up modern conveniences, or even (heaven forbid) put down our phones, but simply take the time to appreciate life’s simple pleasures, like a delicious glass of wine.
It’s really quite achievable and can be as easy as treating yourself to a quiet evening, a glass of wine, a bowl of popcorn and a good movie.
Simplify your next dinner party by enjoying the company of friends over a selection of cheeses, crackers and quality wine, instead of preparing an overly complicated meal. The idea is to savour the moment and take pleasure in the luxury of everyday living.
This is the philosophy of Jean-Claude Mas and his motivation to create easy drinking, exceptional quality wines.
Jean-Claude Mas was born in a winemaking environment in the Languedoc, in Pézenas. At the age of 3, during the harvest, he escaped from his mother and ran 2.5 km to meet his grandfather in the cellar.
This was when his passion for wine was born. After some travelling and working in Bordeaux for several years with famous wine maker Giorgio Grai, Jean Claude returned home to the South of France to create wines that were approachable and enjoyable while capturing the true spirit of the South of French.
Considered a flagship of southern France, Jean Claude Mas wines express all the richness and diversity of the region.
Today, Jean-Claude Mas owns more than 600 hectares of vineyards and works in partnership with grape growers across an additional 1,312 hectares of vines.
With access to 40 different grape varieties, both local and international, as well as an incredible range of different terroirs in the Languedoc, he continues to create exceptional wines while relishing all of life’s simple luxuries.
Currently, at the LCBO, you can find two of his creations: Jean Claude Mas Reserve Syrah and Jean Claude Mas Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot, with additional offerings coming this fall. Simply luxurious quality wine for the everyday – Le Luxe Rural.
