On today’s popular daytime talk show, CTV The Social’s technology columnist, Kate McKenna, profiles 5 smartphone apps that help you solve some of life’s time-consuming challenges, from finding a great parking spot in the city to deciding what to cook for dinner. Watch The Social mobile app video (7 minute mark). Kate included our Wine Reviews and Ratings app, which she describes as “an award-winning app that allows each of us to pretend we have a sommelier in our pocket. New iPhone Wine App Named Best New App by iTunes
Less than 24 hours after launching our new iPhone wine app, Apple has selected it to be one of the Best New Apps on the iTunes Storefront. Our team is mighty proud to be there with apps from the New York Times and CBC FIFA World Cup. (Wine pairs nicely with both.) However, it took 9 months of labour to welcome this new member to our family. We could have delivered this baby earlier, but we decided to hold off in order to create the list of new features below that’ll help you find a great wine in just a […]
Android and BlackBerry wine mobile apps
I would love to create a wine app for every smartphone platform on the market, or even most of the major ones. But the reality is cold hard cash. I’ve invested $30,000 in the iPhone platform alone to create the existing app. Apple continues to lead the app market by a margin of 10 to 1 when it comes to their smartphone users actually using apps and to supporting those who develop for them. That said, to date, I have invested another $25,000 into each of the Android and Blackberry platforms. I’ve also created a mobile site that works on […]

What about the concern that many wineries have: they don’t have the time to do it or the budget to hire someone? What’s the real upside in being on social media, especially if you already have a web site? How do you know which social media channels to focus on? Is it all about Twitter […]

Pair Wines with the People on Your Holiday Gift List
Wine is one of the few presents that makes both the giver and the receiver look good. This holiday season, anyone can tap into my free web site and mobile apps for iPhone, BlackBerry, Droid and other smartphones. They help consumers with a whole new type of pairing: wine with the people on your Christmas shopping list. The app and site also pair wines to thousands of dishes, including […]
