My mother for her patience and Dorothy Parker for her alcoholic tolerance.
Who do you want to inspire?
Those who love wine and words.
What do you love about yourself?
My Teflon liver.
What would you change about yourself?
My one-track mind.
What is your biggest regret?
Not starting to drink earlier in life. It’s never too late to catch up.
What are you learning right now?
I’m writing the chapter on Portugal for my second book, to be published next year. It involves a lot of research (drinking port).
If I had a million dollars I would….?
Buy a few cases of Domaine Romanee-Conti, Burgundy.
I would trade places with?
The French writer Colette who wrote about the vineyards of France in her rosy cheeks. (She loved pinot noir and her prose was just as silky.)
