On CTV News, Leanne and I chat about how more and more wine lovers are turning to online wine classes, not just because we’re in quarantine, but also because they offer many advantages over physical courses:
- You don’t have to drive, find parking or a babysitter and then drive home after drinking
- Many couples take the course together as date night (a two-for-one benefit because they only pay one course fee)
- Family members of drinking age can also do this as it’s often a lot more fun than monopoly
- My students meet wine lovers around the world, they develop friendships
- Those in remote communities that don’t have access to wine classes can participate
- When you finish the course it’s not over as we continue to meet regularly online to taste together
You can take my free sample class: 5 Wine & Food Pairing Mistakes That Can Ruin Your Dinner (and how to fix them forever)
Mosel Valley River
We then chatted about what a sample class inside the full course might include, like an in-depth tasting of German wines and food pairings:
- Fascinating history and trivia, dinner party conversation: steep slopes 65 degrees, 300 mile long Mosel River
- How to read the labels and find bargains in the liquor store, greatest value, aging potential
- Riesling and Pinot Noir Spätburgunder for spring
- Incredible range of styles for Riesling, low alcohol, high flavour
- Food pairings and what to avoid for clashing
- Travel tips when visiting the regions
