Reviews and Ratings

Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This is a beautiful Sauvignon Blanc from Clifford Bay in the Marlborough Region of New Zealand. There is an abundance of herbs and pea pods on the nose and a palate that is both crisp and refreshing. Everything that went into this wine was carefully selected from various vineyards and crafted with the longevity of the vines in mind - Integrating these techniques requires great skill and knowledge of the perfect time to harvest and when to pluck bunches with the hopes of sustaining greater vine health.
Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A vibrant Sauvignon Blanc with citrus aromas, jalapeño, and herbal notes.

It is crisp on the palate with grapefruit flavours and just a touch of minerality.

Cherie Cole rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This Reserve Clifford Bay Sauvignon Blanc highlights the beautiful diversity of the Awatere Valley. The grapes were picked at night when the temperatures remained cool, to keep the integrity of the herbal aromas found in this vintage. Flavours include fresh-cut grass, steely mineral notes with passion fruit and fresh green pea. Enjoy the mouthwatering acidity with a long, herbal finish. Tasted September 2017 with winemaker Simon Fell.
Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A crisp, herbal Sauv Blanc style that shows lots of lime zest, grassy and herbal notes and exotic tropical fruit on the mouth-watering palate. The winemaker aims to let the vines express their true flavours and doesn't do a lot of leaf-plucking. Consequently, the fruit is not affected much by UV light because it is hidden beneath leaves. The result is exuberant SB flavours that the winemaker describes as "electric green". This would be a great match with a shrimp salad or oysters.

David Skinner rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Medium straw and clean. Aromas of lime, fresh herbs and floral notes harmoniously blend with a sense of minerality. Silky and rich with just the right acid to give the wine some punch. Solid citrus flavours and the finish lingers delightfully long.

A perfect wine for lemon chicken or a lemon-veal dish.
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Light straw colour. Aromas of snow peas and lemongrass with a steely minerality. Light and refreshing mouthfeel with citrus and herbaceous finish. Score 90. (S.Segard, reviewed Sept. 25, 2017)
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This was a treat - 100% Awatere grapes, this vineyard is always the last to be harvested. Primary aromas of lime zest, herbs and almond followed by peach/melon, yellow apple and pear and a rich, zesty palate combine in a lovely, refined package. Great with shellfish.
Andrea Shapiro reviewed this wine as follows:

Quite green and vegetal with a hint of tropical and floral touches. Stands in its own. Lemon peel, dried grass, flint, gravel, wet stone, asparagus, gooseberry and an undeniable "cat's pee" note. Flavours are enveloped with pink grapefruit, pineapple, lemongrass, gooseberry and starfruit. Also a touch of limestone and clay present. High bright acidity, make this mouthwatering, fresh and crisp.
