Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This SB sourced from the Southern Clays Vineyard in Marlborough has a delicate nose with tropical fruit notes, followed by an appetizing palate that gives light gooseberries, tropical fruit and lemon/lime flavours combined with mouth-watering acidity. It was perfectly paired with mussels in cream sauce. Would also pair well with marinated mushrooms, roasted garlic or bruschetta.

David Skinner rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Light straw with a touch of green on the rim. A rich nose with passion fruit, green pepper and minerality. Racy acidity and a blend of grapefruit and tropical notes with a long finish. Southern Clays vineyards are located on the gentle slopes of the northern facing hills in the southern Marlborough region and the terroir tends to boost the flavour profile of a more tropical style of sauvignon blanc.

The flinty aspects of the wine begs some oysters. Perhaps chicken with a preserved lemon sauce.
Pamela Chiles rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Sauvignon Blanc in the Southern Clays area of the Wairau valley has a tendancy to grow vigorously with thick canopies that must be trimmed to keep in check. This is a big, grassy, herbaceous wine with plenty of passionfruit/tropical fruit (pineapple) aromas woven in the mix. Grass, herbs and grapefruit blend with mouthwatering acidity on the palate. Fabulous, long finish. Boom!
