Excellent value for this crisp, refreshing wine with vibrant acidity and expressive lemon-line and herbal notes. The wine was aged for a year on its yeast lees to add texture to it.

Reviews and Ratings

Drink Wine and Giggle Gals rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

A quiet sauvignon blanc that does not impose itself on the conversation, Robert Mondavi Private Selection is a wine that Robert Mondavi himself would probably dislike. Mondavi lamented the strategy his sons pursued, stressing inexpensive wines over the fine wines that had been associated with the Mondavi name. In 2004 Constellation Brands paid $1.36 billion for Mondavi and they have produced a wine in Robert Mondavi Private Selection Sauvignon Blanc that tastes like it was designed by MBAs using focus groups rather than grapes. Now don't get the Drink Wine and Giggle Gals wrong: we don't dislike this wine, we just feel sad for it. Mr Mondavi passed away in 2008 at the age of 94. In honour of his legacy and to appease his ghost for the sauvignon blanc that now bears his name, the Drink Wine and Giggle Gals give Robert Mondavi the last words as we retire to watch the movie Mondovino:
I've always wanted to improve on the idea of living well. In moderation, wine is good for you - mentally, physically, and spiritually. ~ Robert Mondavi
