Stewed prunes on the nose, full-bodied with some fleshy black plum on the palate. Good price. Pair with hamburgers.

Sirah food pairings: lamb cutlets, hamburgers, espresso and cocoa-rubbed flank steak, black bean soup, cheese.

Yes, Mexico does make wine. In this case, this winke comes from Northern Baja, south of California. La Cetto tend to focus a lot on really robust reds. In this case, Petit Sirah (Durif); a cross between Syrah and Peloursin.
It borders on opaque purple; Glasscoating.
The aromas are full-on cooked plum, cherries jubilee, olive, prune, tobacco, and smoke.
The flavours are equally as big. The alcohol peeks out a bit, but the mouthfeel is great. Returning to the palate after having let it rest, blueberry pie filling emerges. This wine oozes dark fruit bombast.
One can imagine such a place as Mexico wouod have to make sure that any varietals they chose would be able to survuve the intense heat. They manage Zinfandel, Viognier, Nebbiolo, and Sangiovese. Well worth a try and a great wine for sliders or elk burgers.

An extra-dry, rich red wine from Baja California, Mexico. Ripe blueberries and prunes, with dark chocolate and a slightly floral aspect on nose. The palate gives figs and prunes, dark chocolate, smoke and licorice- rather like a Mexican mole sauce in a glass. Pair with lamb burgers.
