Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

I love "The Judge" from Hester Creek Estate Winery! It seems like each vintage is even more elegant than the one before. The Judge 2020 is a deep, dark pool of blood red (how can you tell I tasted/reviewed this wine around Halloween *(*). Sultry with medium-intensity aromas of dark cherry, sandalwood, grilled herbs and meats with a smooth, long and salivating, smoky tobacco finish, it is dry, medium-plus-bodied, elegant and textured with fine-grained velcroish tannins and balanced with medium-plus-acidity that will leave you craving for a ribeye done rare. So complex and so good now or hold to 2028. Tasted October 2024.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

I always look forawrd to tasting this signature wine from Hester Creek. This vintage is made from 35% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Franc, and 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot, and 2% Malbec. Aromas of black cherry, plum and blackberry, along with hints of mocha, dried herbs, eucalyptus, and campfire smoke. Full bodied, smooth and velvety with soft, subtle tannins on the palate, and medium+ acidity. Lots of rich, dark berry flavours balanced with hints of mocha, anise, and smoke along with a touch of a dried herbal note. Enjoy with a grilled steak or prime rib.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
