Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

What a beautiful nose on this small lot Sémillon from Hester Creek Estate Winery. This is a 100% Sémillon with grapes sourced from their Block 12 Vineyard on the Golden Mile Bench (planted in 2020).

Fragrant with fine herbs, aromas of fresh tarragon stand out with honeysuckle florals and clean mineral notes. Available to club members only, this is a dry, medium-bodied voluptuous Sémillon, not fat by any means, but textured, ripe and mouthfilling with white florals, tarragon, lemon zest, a saline mineral touch finishing long, zingy and refreshing. Lovely now!

Grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, whole-berry pressed, cold settled and fermented for two weeks in stainless-steel tank. Aged on its fine lees with regular lees stirring giving this wine more structure, finesse and that nice, creamy mouth feel. We paired it with grilled Ahi tuna in a ginger, lemon and tarragon marinade. The winery suggests pairing it with B.C. cod or halibut in a lemon butter sauce - it certainly has the balanced acidity to cut through a rich fish dish or sauce.
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Light and refreshing. Aromas of lemon, green herbs, and subtle white florals. Light bodied, with medium acidity and a soft texture. Fruit and herbaceous flavours are fresh and vibrant, and there is a nice saline, mineral hint on the finish. Enjoy with any white fish or spring pea risotto.
