Reviews and Ratings

Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 97/100 with the following review:

De Bortoli, Noble One from the Riverina area in New South Wales is dessert in a wine glass. I am always amazed about how the Botrytis Cineria fungus can have such a wonderful effect on the Semillon grape and The Noble One exhibits this in its light golden, bright colour, unctuous complexity of apricot, honey, honeycomb, citrus, marmalade, smoke, flint and vanilla on the palate. It rests on the palate and fills the mouth with perfect sweetness which becomes tidal with mouth-watering acidity. This was a perfect end to the Australia's First Families of Wine (AFFW) seminar!
Allison & Chris Wallace rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

Rich and honeyed, this is an intensely flavoured, viscous, almost syrupy hedonistic delight! Sweet stone fruit flavours combine with enough acidity to keep everything in balance. The finish goes on for well over a minute.
Mymi Thesingingsommelier - Sommelier, FWS rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

De Bortoli Wines is a third generation family wine company. It was established by Vittorio and Giuseppina De Bortoli who emigrated from mountainous Northern Italy to Australia in 1928.
Their son Deen expanded and consolidated the business and it is his children who are now in charge and have established a reputation for De Bortoli’s icon dessert wine Noble One and their wines from the Yarra Valley.
Strong Italian family values remain at the core of this enterprise where hard work, generosity of spirit, sharing good food, good wine and good times with family and friends prevail.
The family is also deeply committed to the business and has a real passion for wine. The De Bortoli family motto Semper ad Majora – 'Always striving for better' - underpins everything the company does.
De Bortoli has expanded into some of Australia’s best known wine regions across Victoria and New South Wales including the Yarra, King and Hunter Valleys from its original base in Bilbul, in the Riverina region of southern New South Wales.
The family’s philosophy is perfectly described in the words of Steve Webber, their winemaker 'It's about site and season, making wines with detail, texture and minerality, charm and interest. Character and personality in wine comes from the imperfections of nature.'
This voluptuous beauty is 100% Semillion that has been affected by a “good” fungus called Botrytis Cinerea or Noble Rot where, under the right conditions, the fungus draws out the water from the berries therefore intensifying the flavor and the sweetness of the grapes.
In the glass, it is a very deep amber yellow with a multitude of opulent legs.
On the nose, aromas of very ripe peaches, nectarines and dried apricots jump out! There is also some candied orange rind, Cuban honey and a hint of Tahitian vanilla.
The palate is sinfully sweet and sexy! This nectar coats every little crevasse in your mouth and lingers… It is full of honey, marmalade, apricots, touch of vanilla and lemon zest. The sweetness is perfectly balanced by a mouth-watering acidity. The finish is sublimely long and marries incredibly well into another sip!
Bring out your best cheeses for this wine or serve with stone-fruit cobblers!
Or enjoy on its own…

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

De Bortoli Noble One 2013 - intensely rich golden yellow colour, the nose shows rich wild flower honey, beeswax, citronella, and dried apricots. Very nice wine to enjoy with fruit salads, peach pie, or coconut cream pie! Tasted November 2016. 93 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
