Great value for this full-bodied, toasty Chilean Chardonnay. In 1969, the Cousiño-Macul winery made the first Antiguas Reservas Chardonnay, a trademarked designation reserved for the producer's best Chardonnay from the vintage. A small part of this white wine was matured for 7 months in small French oak barrels, and an even smaller amount was put through a malolactic fermentation to soften some of the acidity. Pair with veal chops.

Chardonnay food pairings: crab cakes, prawns, baked salmon.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Fresh apple and lemoncello on the nose. Rich butter with toffee and not overly oaked. Fresh acidity and decent buttery finish. Good value at $16. Serve with planked salmon, grilled pork chops, roasted turkey.
Tasted: March 2015
The 2013 of the Antiguas Reservas Chardonnay sources grapes grown in the Buin area where this Chilean winery practises careful management of the sun exposure to the grapes so as to keep the freshness in the wine. About 30% of the grapes are fermented in oak barrels but the wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation. - Community Wine Reviews
