This spicy blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre grapes is produced by Michel Gassier. It's juicy, smooth and layered. The grapes were de-stemmed and both the Syrah and Mourvèdre components were matured for 1 year on the lees in French oak barrels. The Grenache portion is kept in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness. This AC wine was bottled without filtration. This is a fantastic wine from winemaking consultant, Philippe Cambie, especially for this price. Aromas of wild dark fruit, dried herbs, spice, and cedar underbrush. Highly recommended. It's a classic Rhone blend with fragrant spices, black cherry and licorice for grilled meats.

Reviews and Ratings

Alain Jaume and family have been making wine since 1826 from various terroirs in the Rhone Valley. The wines are only lightly filtered to preserve most natural deposits that add richness and concentration to the wine, but are harmless (decant). - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
