Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Outstanding Aussie Riesling overflowing with powerful aromas of candied lime, petrol, and citrus blossom. Dry with bracing acidity offsetting just a touch of residual sugar. Concentrated and textured palate that introduces a wet stone note to mix with the Jolly Rancher apple candy, lime and citrus, and bountiful floral stylings. Enduring finish that tempts additional sips. A natural match for grilled seafood, grilled chicken, and roast turkey.
Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Nice petrol on this nose with a bit of clover wafting around. The palate is invitingly lively and light. Waxy petrol is cut with citrusy lemon. Nicely balanced. This will have wide appeal in the off-dry-Riesling-lover category. Enjoy with brunch, tea sandwiches, cold lemony shrimp. Very good value. Tasted June 2019. www.thewineloverskitchen.com
Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Beautiful Riesling! Slightly off dry, with lots of peach, wet stone, and a bit of a floral hint. Bright acidity, lots of tart fruit and mineral notes on the finish. Enjoy with oysters, shrimp cocktail or any fresh white fish.
Somm4All WSET 3 rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Located West-North-West of Melbourne, the Best’s vineyard boasts Riesling vines that date back to Germany in the 1860’s. A family run winery that is now operated by the Thomson family, its geographic location allows for warm days and cool nights to help produce ideal growing conditions, that, when combined with minimalist winemaking techniques, allows the fruit to shine. And shine they do! Pale lemon-green in colour with good aromas of pear, lime, lemon, green apple, clementine and light petrol. On the palate the wine is both dry and refreshing, with medium alcohol and medium-minus body. Flavours of lime, pink grapefruit, unripe pineapple, granny smith apple, peach, white pepper and a little minerality come through. The finish is medium in length with citrus, green apple and a touch of white pepper lingering. A yummy wine for warm days accompanied by BBQ spicy pork skewers.
Best's Great Western 2017 Riesling is fragrant with soft orange and petrol aromas (in a good way). Medium-bodied with juicy citrus, orange zest, pepper spice and flinty mineral flavours, juicy and mouthcoating on the palate. Complex and nicely balanced. - Community Wine Reviews
