Natalie's Score: 95/100

From Far Niente Family of Wineries and Vineyards, Bella Union 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is an earthy, spicy, full-bodied California Cab, rich with black cherry, baking spices, dark chocolate and toasty oak spice flavours on the palate. Tannins are firm and grippy. Hold in cellar to 2025 or decant for two hours prior to pouring with a well-marbled prime rib roast. Absolutely hedonistic!

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: well-marbled steaks from the grill, pork crown roast, roast shoulder of lamb with garlic and rosemary, roast beef, tourtière, gourmet burgers.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Beautiful and full flavoured. Aromas of currant and black cherry, along with notes of mocha, smoky spices and graphite. Full bodied with vibrant, mouthwatering acidity, soft, grippy tannins, and rich, ripe fruit on the palate. Smoke and spicy notes carry through on a lengthy, slightly drying finish with hints of tart berries. Enjoy with grilled meats or rustic, hearty mushroom dishes.
Bella Union 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is produced by the Far Niente Family of Wineries and Vineyards. Earthy and spicy with cassis and dark chocolate aromas on the nose. Full-bodied and lush with dark cherry, baking spice and dark chocolate flavours on the palate. Tannins are firm and chewy and a good cellaring candidate for another three years for this Cab Sauv. to mellow and marry. - Community Wine Reviews
