Lovely nose of ripe cherry and smoke. Surprisingly you don't smell the high alcohol, though you do feel its warmth on the palate in a pleasant way. The Pinot Noir grapes grow on some of the oldest vines planted in Oregon and overlook the Umpqua River. Pair with grilled salmon.

Pinot Noir food pairings: grilled venison striploin, roast partridge, roast leg of lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Cherry, earth and espresso aromatics. Mouth-watering acidity on a well-balanced palate with berry fruit, sous bois, vanilla, baking spice and mocha. Great gift for the Pinot lover.
Enjoy with roast turkey, duck, venison.

Lori Kilmartin WSET3 - WSET3 Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is a big Pinot Noir from Oregon. Usually I find them a bit lighter in body than the California Pinot's - but this is an exception. Smoke, oak, vanilla and ripe black cherry aromas. Big legs from the almost 15% alcohol. Despite the high alcohol everything seems in balance. Plenty of fruit, nice acidity and dusty tannins. This would pair nicely with a roasted chicken or herb crusted pork loin roast. Tasted February 28/2018
River's Edge Barrel Select (2014) is a robust and elegant Pinot Noir from Pinot Noir from the lower Umpqua River Valley in Oregon. Lots of black cherry and mocha flavors on this smoky red. The wine spent 11 months in 40% new oak. - Community Wine Reviews
