Feral with underbrush and wild mushroom and truffle notes. Earthy, dark and complex. Needs cellar time. Pair with truffle accented risotto and wild boar while you're lounging in Piedmont.

Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 95/100 with the following review:

Wow! Deep ruby, with an opaque centre, the 2012 Ornellaia shows the perfect balance of sweet fruit, savoury traits, rich texture, structure, and overall balance. Concentrated dark fruit, cacao, espresso, leather, spice, it's jam packed with an obundance of fine tannins. The winemaker achieve beautiful balance in this iconic wine. Ideal with wide range of Tuscan dishes, especially thick cut bistecca alla fiorentina (steaks). It's elegant, structured, and built to be cellared and enjoyed over the next few decades. Tasted November 2015. 95 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

This Super Tuscan is not for the faint of heart or wallet shy. At this point in time the wine is young with aromas and flavours of ripe cassis, black plum, blackcurrant leaf, dark cherry, earthy, dusty and juicy green pepper(in a good way.) Acidity is welcomed and cleanses the drying tannins and the concentrated fruits. Patience and 10 years will reward you. Dry. Full-bodied.
Tasted: February 2016
The 2012 vintage of this Super Tuscan red wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grapes. Still tightly coiled: this need cellar aging. Firm tannins with a long finish. Lots of sensuality on the palate. Swiss artist John Armleder was selected to artistically interpret the character of L'Incanto (the Enchantment) for the seventh edition of the Vendemmia d'Artista art project. - Community Wine Reviews
