A strong acidic attack on the front and mid palate. Smoky with loads of toasty oak and chary black fruit. Heart of blackness with a mint lining. Fleshy black plums, blackberries and dark spices on this robust Australian red wine from Fowles winery. Luscious layers of flavour and complexity. Full-bodied with a long spicy satisfying finish. Pair with rare steak.

Shiraz food pairings: hamburger, char-grilled beef, blackened chicken, lamb chops, cheesy pizza.

Reviews and Ratings

Melanie Lloyd - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

This Shiraz has aromas of blackberries, autumn leaves and eucalyptus. On the palate, it has plums and tart cherries with a touch of cocoa at the finale. The tannins are silky and it has a nice long finish. I thoroughly enjoyed this wine!

Pair with roasted duck, pork or lamb.

Tasted November 2017.
Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

A lovely nose adorns this full bodied red with shiraz grapes grown in the cool climate Strathbogie Ranges of Melbourne, Victoria. Distinct aromas of candied rhubarb, mint, blackcurrant, spice and smoke are brimming from the glass. The palate mirrors the nose with more spicy oak, dark red fruit, well integrated tannins and a smooth finish. Enjoy now or cellar 7-10 years. Tasted November 2017.
Victoria Fowles Stone Dwellers (2015) is a smoky, toasty and ripe black fruit, full-bodied Shiraz from cool-climate Strathbogie Ranges. This is a spicy Shiraz with a dried herb and minty finish. Pair with a rare Tomahawk Porterhouse steak from the grill. Decant two hours prior to serving. - Community Wine Reviews
