Robust, black and brooding southern French red wine, with incredible concentration and depth. Toasty oak and lots of rich, tarry notes. Needs cellar time and decant 2 hours. Classic Old World styling, balance and finesse. Finishes with black olive, anise, and dried herbs. Pair with lamb and rosemary.

Food pairings: lamb cutlets with pepperade and goat cheese, hamburgers, pizza, black bean soup, cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Jane Staples - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

You can feel the Provence sunshine and see the lavender fields as you sip this rich and full-bodied red. An inky dark fruit nose, stewed fruit palate with herbal touches, slight dill, rosemary and olive. Very dry mouthfeel, with herbal & olive touches on the finish. This would be heavenly with rack of lamb smothered in rosemary and garlic.
Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

From the Crozes-Hermitage AOC in the Northern Rhone a red wine made from 100% Syrah. This red wine was aged 18 months in French oak barrels. The colour of the wine in the glass is a deep ruby while the nose is fresh red berries, cherry, bacon and resin. The palate is medium bodied with characteristics of raspberry, blackcurrant leaf, vanilla, pepper, baking spices and tar. Drying tannins and medium+ acidity. Medium length herbal finish. Winemaker suggested pairings: red meat, game, cheeses. Decant. Enjoy over the next 5-7 years.
Interesting side note: Crozes-Hermitage is the largest appellation in the northern Rhone and less highly regarded than it's neighbour Cote-Rotie or it's namesake Hermitage.
Tasted: May 2015
