The Copain Tous Ensemble Yorkville Highlands Syrah, a gorgeous example of California in the glass. It offers aromas of leather, violets, dark plums, and spice. It’s full-bodied and elegant with a nod to the Rhône Valley. I’d love to pair this with barbecued meats, charcuterie, grilled Portobello mushrooms. This would be great to serve at a birthday or anniversary party dinner. It’s going to appeal to many palates.

Reviews and Ratings

Jennifer Havers - WSET Level 3 rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

A lovely and balanced Syrah. Aromas of raspberry, dark plums, violets, leather, and spice. Full bodied, with some soft tannins, and ripe, rounded fruit on the palate with medium acidity with a peppery finish. Enjoy with lamb or duck.
Alana L rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Lovely regional expression of Syrah it’s savoury and earthy with leather and spice. Violet, pie crust and dark, ripe blackberry, cherry and plum on the nose and palate, lavender, graham cracker, pie crust and wild blackberry, it’s bright, with balanced tannins and a slight, not unpleasant, grippy side to it. Medium plus finish, it’s soft and elegant and very ‘Rhône style’, would be lovely with any manner of grilled meat on the BBQ, charcuterie, that perfect early summer burger or even pasta arrabiata.

Tasted as part of the "California Wine Month Master Class: California Then and Now", a master class showcasing classic California wines, regions and range of styles and beautifully hosted by writer and speaker, Elaine Chukan Brown and California Wines.
From Mendocino County, Copain tous Ensemble 2016 Syrah is fragrant with dark plum, earthy floral and leather aromas; dry, full-bodied and elegant with earthy violets, ripe blackberry, cherry, plum and fine wild herb flavours smooth and mouth filling finishing with a kiss of spice. - Community Wine Reviews
