Château Hourtou 2015 is a great value, dry and medium-plus-bodied Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec red Bordeaux blend from the Côtes De Bourg wine region. Loads of blackberry, plum, savoury herb and well-integrated oak spice on this flavourful red. Château Hourtou is located at the top of a sloping hillside and dates back to the 15th century. In 1985, it was purchased by the Castel family who have renewed the vineyards and the cellar. The Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec grape vines on the property average 40 years of age, but there are some vines over 100 years old.

Food pairings: grilled rib-eye steak, steak and kidney pie, roast leg of lamb, crown roast of pork, turkey, duck.

From the Côtes De Bourg, Château Hourtou 2015 is great value under $20 for this full-bodied and savoury Bordeaux. Juicy plum compote, black currant and savoury herb flavours on the palate, tannins are firm on this Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec red wine blend that would benefit from some cellar time -- about three years to mellow and marry fruit and tannins and to show its best. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
