Natalie's Score: 89/100 Borsao Berola 2014 is a full-bodied Spanish red wine blend of 70% Garnacha, 20% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French and American oak. The Grenache wine grapes for this wine were planted in 1956, the Cabernet Sauvignon in 1990, and the Syrah in 2003. On the palate, there is more ripe, dark fruit, with smoke, garrigue herbs, earthy florals and spicy flavours. Very approachable now. Berola is the original name for the 12th century monastery of Veruela when the land was first granted to Cistercian monks to tend and plant as vineyards. This wine was aged in French bordelaise oak barrels for 14 months. Pair with game dishes.
Food pairings: lamb shanks in red wine and roasted garlic, grilled lamb lollipops, stuffed lamb tenderloin.

Christian Marcoux rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review: Located in the Campo de Borja in Spain, Bodegas Borsao Winery creates a variety of amazing wines to please the Spanish wine lovers of the world. Borsao Berola 2014, crafted with Grenache, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, delivers a lovely bouquet of dried strawberry, maraschino, black tea, leather and vanilla. Full body with an intense finish, the structured tannins perfect the journey into the palate. This Spaniard delivers flavours of ripe dark cherry, strawberry, lavender, smoke and vanilla. Amazing for any occasion, this crowd pleaser will charm on its own or paired with red meat or sausage. Enjoy!
Jay Denney rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review: Wow, the 15% alc on this one does not hold back a bit on the first sniff! I backed off and gave it about 45 minutes to breathe and she stormed the dance floor touting cherries jubilee, blueberry-plum jam, and a nice hit of smoke, spice, and saddle leather. Get yourself some braised red meat and a bottle of this and hunker down for the night!
From Campo De Borja wine region, Borsao Berola 2014 is a well-priced, full-bodied Spanish red wine blend of 70% Garnacha, 20% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French and American oak. The Grenache wine grapes for this wine were planted in 1956, the Cabernet Sauvignon in 1990, and the Syrah in 2003 .Ripe dark plums, smoke and toasty oak on the nose, this robust red is not for the faint of heart. On the palate, there is more ripe, dark fruit, with smoke, garrigue herbs, earthy florals and spicy flavours. Despite all this, the wine is smooth and very approachable now.
