Woodstone Creek began operations in a barn, 45 minutes north of Cincinnati, in January of 1999. Within two years, Woodstone had outgrown the space and needed to relocate. Inspired after a visit to the urban wineries on the West Coast, the winemaker decided to try something out of the ordinary for Ohio by moving into an old factory building surrounded by urban redevelopment. Centrally located, Woodstone Creek is ten minutes from downtown Cincinnati at the intersection of interstates I-71, I-75 and the Norwood Lateral - just a few blocks from Xavier University along Dana Avenue in Evanston. Although lacking the ambiance of the estate wineries, Woodstone's new location offers the necessary zoning to house the distilling equipment. This former factory-warehouse-turned-winery is also a meadery, port house and the first licensed microdistillery in Ohio. The building also houses other related businesses - a home brewing and winemaking shop as well as a microbrewery.

The tasting room, once the factory president's wood-paneled office, is open to the public on the weekends. It features a spectacular curved, 1930's maple and mahogany bar, art gallery, a selection of wine racks and handcrafted jewelry. Customers can sample current releases for a small charge and purchase wine to go by the bottle or case. The atmosphere is friendly and informal - sitting at the curved tasting bar invites conversation as strangers become friends over wine.

As a true artisan winery and boutique distillery, Woodstone Creek produces 100-200 cases of wine, mead and distilled spirit yearly. The offerings change seasonally - Ohio grape varietals from dry to sweet, honeywine from local honey, port with our own potstilled brandy and fruit wine from area farms. Woodstone offers an unusual range of mead (7-10) from dry to sweet and fortified dessert wines. Woodstone's potstill produces brandy, honey liqueur, five grain bourbon, single malt whisky (peated and unpeated), rum, gin, bierschnaaps and vodka. Truly unique - all the fermentation arts come together at Woodstone Creek. Our winemaker is a certified brewmaster, mead mazer and master distiller all in one!

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
