Whispering Hills Vineyards began in 2002 as two vineyards about 3 miles apart. Mike and Dana Killinger ordered their first vines from New York with the hopes of planting a small vineyard. Neighbors Doug and Becky Von Weihe took an interest and bought about an acres worth of vines from the Killinger's to begin their vineyard.
2 acres of Marechal Foch and Concord grapes were planted. These will be in production in the fall of 2004. We currently offer a Rose? style wine from our Foch, and our Concord is made into a sweet red wine.
In 2003 Vignole and Edelweiss were planted. They are both white varietals. With the addition of these vines the 2 vineyards total over 4 acres. Vignol can be made into an exceptional late harvest dessert wine. We are already making Edelweiss from local grapes, but this will give us additional acreage for a very popular wine.
The spring of 2005 was a busy one for us here at WHV, besides pruning our mature vines, we were busy planting more !!! We added more Edelweiss, St Croix, and De Chaunac to our vineyards this spring. This brings us to six cultivars and close to eight acres of vineyards.
2006 started out with a bang, we finished out the tasting room loft and now have additional space for parties and tastings. We also increased the entertainment schedule to include events every other weekend during the summer. We seem to have managed to keep pretty busy as 2006 has been our best year yet.
The tasting room is located in a renovated 100+ year old barn. There you will be able to sample our wine and purchase your favorite variety. We currently have several different wines to choose from. They include our very popular Edelweiss, Dry Apple, and LaCrosse, for our white selections. St. Croix, DeChaunac, and Concord for our reds. Catawba, a sweet blush and our intense Raspberry desert wine. The tasting room is now avaliable for your meeting and party needs.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
