The best old world traditions.
The winery with the finest wines on California's Central Coast.

Winemaking has been a family trait at Tin House Winery for generations. In Hungary, our ancestors tended family estates in the centuries-old Carpathian growing region. We imagine them with sleeves rolled up, patient and earnest, hard at work in one of the rustic tin sheds where the wine was made. This image guides us still, and helped inspire our trademark, the tin house.

Today, Tin House is a small family-owned and operated winery. Now we are concentrating on two varieties, Pinot Noir and Syrah. We sourced our fruit from the Edna Valley and Santa Maria Apellations. Our award-winning wines are produced in limited quantities resulting in wines that exhibit intimate craftsmanship and artisan character. For us, winemaking is a family affair, through and through. Tin House proprietors Susan and Greg Franks participate in every aspect of the winemaking, from vineyard and varietal selection to actual production. Son and award-winning winemaker Alec Franks and his wife Stacy Franks, Tin House's enologist, handcraft each vintage. Together our team makes remarkable wines born of love and dedication, science and intuition.

Our wines creatively capture the unique essence of the Central Coast of California. We produce hundreds rather than thousands of cases of wine, a level of care that comes through in our wine.

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
