We, David and Teresa Weyler, have a love for country life history, and nature. In 2003, We purchased our first tract of land in Trimble County, located on US421. In 2005, additional acreage located along the banks of the Little Kentucky River was purchased. This tract included the original Hunter House. Upon researching the history, we learned that the home (in must disrepair) was built by the Hunter brothers in the early 1900s. Our desire grew to see the house saved and the property preserved. Not wanting to see the house fall to ruin and realizing the property was too hilly and rough for conventional farming, the one option that seemed to meet criteria for the use of the land and the house, was to plant a vineyard and open a winery.

After owning the property for some years, spending many weekends and meeting many of the local residents, there was a lure to a new lifestyle. We were drawn to sell our home in Louisville, and move to the country! We spent much of our spare time over a period of three years restoring the house to near its original uniqueness.

We moved to an environment that facilitates an opportunity to live life self sufficiently; growing our own fruits and vegetables, ability to raise our own meat and poultry, and fresh eggs.

Enjoying peaceful views of the trickling creeks. Endless opportunities to be one on one with nature. It was an opportunity to live in balance with the land and natural world; an environment in which your neighbors, two and three miles away, you know well. It’s a sense of community, where there’s a reciprocal sense of helping each other.

We strive to be “green”. We believe in conserving the environment. We believe in the motto ‘Recycle, reuse, and repurpose’. We have strived to utilize all creek rock and timber, cut/milled (from sustainable forest management) off our farm for much of the work done to the house, construction of the winery, and to create unique spaces around the grounds.

It is located within 20 miles of the cities of Bedford, New Castle, Eminence, LaGrange, Madison and only 45 minutes from Louisville, and one hour from Cincinnati and Lexington.

The Little Kentucky River Winery is a place of tranquility sure to provide an exceptional country experience. It offers a peaceful setting to relax, socialize, and enjoy a taste of true country charm.
