Tenuta del Buonamico is a family owned winery located in the Montecarlo Doc appellation, north east of the city of Lucca, northern part of Tuscany
The appellation, one of the smallest in Tuscany, is mainly known for the production of white wines; in fact, is the second oldest appellation for white wines after Vernaccia and our Montecarlo Doc white is known as the Italian Chablis
In this area, French grapes such as Viognier, Semillon, Roussane, Pinot Blanc, Syrah etc are beautifully used, along with indigenous varietals such as Sangiovese and Trebbiano, to create wines with a unique style
Buonamico, under the guidance of Mr Eugenio Fontana (owner) and Mr Paolo Lapini (CEO and winemaker) , is now the top player of the appellation.
Located half between them, the area benefits from salty air from the Tyrrhenian sea and chilled wind from the Appenines, perfect environment, along with the mixed soil, to obtain wines with freshness, minerality and great longevity
Thanks to the innovative vision, Buonamico produces also, since more than 10 years, sparkling wines using unique blends, such as Sangiovese and Syrah, extremely elegant and pleasant
Buonamico offers wines that are made with modern style but deeply rooted in tradition

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
