Three generations of the Marks family have worked Sweeney Canyon Vineyard over the past 28 years. Currently, Kristi Marks is the winemaker and Chris Marks is the vineyard manager, with assistance from Krska Farming. We only make wine from our own vineyard and only from vines we planted ourselves.

2000 Chardonnay
Fermented dry in stainless steel tanks, this wine was made to be a pure expression of the vineyard. Aromas of pineapple, pear, and lemon jump from the glass, while flavors of tropical fruit carry through on the palate. Ample acidity has kept this wine fresh while it has developed elegance and complexity in the bottle. 125 Cases produced.

2001 Chardonnay
With flint-like minerality and citrus in the nose, followed by ginger and tropical fruit on the palate, this wine exhibits the mouth-feel of a barrel aged wine, but has never been in a wooden tank or barrel. It has the fresh color of Chablis, thanks to robust acidity, but an almost unctuous texture. 125 Cases produced.

2006 Chardonnay (Early Bottling)
White spices and ginger aromas are followed by tropical fruit flavors and a crisp and clean finish. Partially barrel fermented and aged 9 months in French Oak. Firmly structured, this wine would benefit from 6 to 12 months more of bottle aging. 120 Cases produced.
2006 Chardonnay
Rich and aromatic like honeysuckle and ginger snaps, with flavors of dried apricot and vanilla, this wine is powerful yet very graceful. The elegant finish lingers with a rich texture. With an additional six months in oak barrels, this was bottled in February, 2008. 220 Cases produced.

2006 Pinot Noir
Grafted onto 20 year old Chardonnay roots in 2002, this Pinot Noir has never been irrigated. Aromas of black pepper and currants jump forth, followed by cherry tobacco and leather. With ample acidity, this wine continues to develop complexity on the palate with a lingering and earthy finish. 70 Cases produced.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
