Stroth-Hall Cellars has set out to create vineyard designate Syrah from around California. We strive to display the personality and charm of Syrah from various locales. With its identity in tact, these wines reflect the soils and climate of their origin.

The personality of Syrah can vary dramatically depending on where it is grown and what type of soils it is planted in. Because of this, it is by nature an indefinable entity that can morph into whatever it decides to express. It is this tendency of stubborn individualism that makes the creation of superb wine from this variety all the more satisfying.

Unfortunately for Syrah, it is this same diversity that has contributed to its lack of general acceptance beyond those few wine enthusiasts that like a good challenge. The average consumer seems unable to wrap its mind around a single definition of the grape, and therefore is lead to make many false assumptions as to what this variety is “supposed to be”.

We feel Syrah should be what it wants to be. To be able to freely express its soil and climate. Listen close, this grape has a story to tell.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
