Matt spent much of his life with family in the Bronx, New York, where his great-grandmother, Stella Fino, settled after immigrating from Italy. With her came plenty of Italian traditions in the way of food and wine and much of Matt's culinary and wine influences came from his family. When he re-united with his other half, Marlene, they decided to take their combined interest in wine and move West to get involved in the wine industry.

They met at Fairfield University, in Fairfield, Connecticut, where Matt was an Economics major and Marlene was an International Business major. After college, they parted ways but found each other again two years later. Both had ended up working in Manhattan; Matt in Finance and Marlene on Wall Street. Realizing they needed a change of pace, they quit their jobs and packed all of their belongings into a recently purchased car. They headed West and haven't looked back! Both have day jobs and keep themselves busy with the winery and making plans to plant their 35 acres with vineyard. The vineyard will grow to be an integral part of their business, as both believe the vineyard will lead to truly unique wines. More information on the vineyard will come with time. Planting begins in the Spring of 2008.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
