We, Sam Spencer and Wendy Roloson, founded Spencer Roloson Winery in 1998, with a single goal in mind: To make wines that reflect our vineyards, remaining true to their varietal character. Guided by that goal, we targeted the vineyard sites, designed, selected, and planted the vines to pursue the highest quality of wine making. Dirt to finished bottle, we have meticulously built our brand together, contributing to different aspects but always coming back to our single vision.

We are dedicated to the wines of the Rhone Valley and Spain and attempt to create wines that reflect their heritage. Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Syrah, Tempranillo and Zinfandel- not the typical lineup coming out of the Napa Valley, but they demonstrate the breadth and versatility of our sites.

We are proud of the work we have done and what we have created. We invite you to learn more about us through our web site or by contacting us directly. In 1996 Sam co-founded Hayes and Vine Wine Bar in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley. There he had the opportunity to broaden his education and palate by tasting thousands and thousands of wines from around the world. But he would taste one wine that would make an indelible impression and solidify his commitment to the Rhone: John Alban’s first vintage of Roussanne.

As a founder of Spencer Roloson, Sam has built the wine program around the Rhone Valley and wines of Spain. Bold wines, true to their varietal character with enough finesse, elegance and focus to reveal the origin. The wine making begins in the vineyard, ends in the bottle – all the while guided by Sam.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
